How to Get Started

Step 1: Download and Install BDRSuite Backup Server 

  1. Click to Download BDRSuite Backup Server here
  2. To Install BDRSuite Backup Server, watch the Backup Server Installation Video below.

Step 2: Create Backup Repository Configuration  

Configure storage options such as Azure Blob Storage, local storage (DAS, NAS, SAN), or any other public cloud storage supported by BDRSuite (e.g., S3, Google Cloud, S3-compatible storage like Wasabi or MinIO) to store backup data.

Step 3: Add Azure Account as a Data Source

Navigate to the 'Cloud Workloads' tab, select the 'Data Sources' menu, and click on 'Add Azure Account.' Follow the prerequisites to set up the necessary permissions in Azure. You’ll need to register an application in Azure, assign roles, and provide details such as Tenant ID, Application ID, and Application Password.

Step 4: Configure Backup for Azure

  1. Name your backup job and select the backup repository  
  2. Choose specific Azure Virtual Machines to back up  
  3. Set up the backup schedules, retention policies, and encryption options  
  4. Save the backup job
  5. Monitor backup progress, edit jobs, view reports, check statuses, and manage backup jobs centrally.

Step 5: Azure Recovery  

  1. Navigate to the 'Recovery - Restore Backup Data' menu  
  2. Select the appropriate restore option
  3. Choose the restore point or timestamp  
  4. Specify the target subscription and resource group for restoration within Azure

By following these steps, you'll ensure your Azure workloads are securely backed up and recoverable when needed.
