How does retention handle synthetic full backups?
Retention policies in BDRSuite apply to synthetic full backups in the same way as traditional full backups. If a synthetic full backup exceeds the configured retention limit, it will be deleted along with its associated incremental backups.
For backup jobs with GFS Retention, synthetic full backups can be flagged as weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly GFS recovery points. These flagged GFS recovery points are preserved as per the GFS schedule, regardless of the basic retention policy. This ensures that long-term archival backups are not deleted prematurely, providing compliance and archival capabilities alongside regular retention.
