What types of licensing models does BDRSuite offer?

BDRSuite offers flexible licensing models, including:
  1. Per-VM License: Backup for individual virtual machines.
  2. Per-Server License: Backup for physical servers.
  3. Per-Workload License: Backup for specific workloads (e.g., applications, databases).
  4. Per-Endpoint License: Backup for desktops and laptops.
  5. Per-User License: Backup for SaaS applications like Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace.
  6. CPU-Socket License: Backup for all VMs on a host based on CPU sockets.
  7. Per 500 GB/Year LicenseBackup based on annual data storage usage.

What is a per-user license?

A per-user license applies to SaaS backups like Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, where each user account is counted as one license.
A user is equivalent to one of the following:
  1. 1 Microsoft 365 User
  2. 1 Google Workspace User
Example: If you have Microsoft 365 Organization with 100 Users and you want to backup only 75 users, you need to buy 75 user licenses.

What is a per-workload license?

A per-workload license covers specific applications or databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL, Exchange, MySQL, and Oracle), regardless of the number of users.

What is a per-VM license?

A per-VM license is based on the number of virtual machines protected under VMware, Hyper-V, oVirt, KVM, Proxmox, and other virtual environments.
A VM is equivalent to one of the following:
  • 1 VMware VM
  • 1 Hyper-V VM
  • 1 KVM VM
  • 1 oVirt VM
  • 1 Proxmox VM
  • 1 AWS EC2 instance
  • 1 Azure VM
Example: If you have 50 VMware VMs, 30 Proxmox VMs, 20 AWS EC2 instances, you need to buy 100 VM licenses.

What is a per-500GB/year license?

A 'per 500 GB/year' license means pricing for NAS/File Share Backup is based on the total amount of data being backed up.
Example: For every 500 GB of data you backup, one license is required. So, if you have 2 TB of data, you would need to purchase 4 licenses.

What is a per-server license?

A per-server license covers physical or virtual servers and allows backing up the entire machine, applications, and files.
A server is equivalent to one of the following:
  • 1 Physical Windows Server
  • 1 Physical Linux Server
Example: If you have 50 Windows Servers and 10 Linux Servers, you need to buy 60 server licenses.

What is a CPU-socket license?

A CPU-socket license applies to VMware and Hyper-V environments, where licensing is based on the number of physical CPU sockets in the host server. CPU socket license covers all virtual machines (VMs) running on that host.
Example: If a host has two CPU sockets, you need to purchase two licenses, and you can backup all VMs in the host.

What is a per-endpoint license?

A per-endpoint license applies to desktops and laptops running Windows, Mac, or Linux, typically used for workstation protection.
An endpoint is equivalent to one of the following:
  1. 1 Windows Workstation/Endpoint
  2. 1 Linux Workstation/Endpoint
  3. 1 Mac
Example: If you have 10 Windows Workstations, 5 Linux Workstations, and 3 Mac, you need to buy 18 endpoint licenses.

What is a per-application license?

A per-application license is for database and application-specific backups. An application is equivalent to one of the following.
  1. 1 SQL Server
  2. 1 PostgreSQL Server
  3. 1 MySQL Server
  4. 1 Exchange Server
  5. 1 SharePoint Server
Example: If you have 2 SQL Servers and 1 MySQL Server, you need to buy 3 application licenses.

  1. 5 VMware VMs
  2. 10 Windows Workstations
  3. 50 Microsoft 365 Users
