How To Setup Virtual Appliance In ESXi Host

Purpose:
This article provides guidance on setting up a Virtual Appliance in an ESXi host using BDRSuite Backup Solutions. The Virtual Appliance is a pre-configured BDRSuite Backup Server that is quick to deploy, allowing IT professionals to efficiently back up data from servers to the Virtual Appliance and replicate the data to the cloud.
Solution:
Follow the steps below to import the OVF file to a VMware ESXi host:
1. Login to the ESXi server from the vSphere client.
2. Navigate to File > Deploy OVF template and browse to select the OVF file.
3. Select the required options to launch the virtual machine and click the next button.
4. Review the OVF template details on the displayed page and click the next button.
5. Create a name for the virtual appliance on the ESXi host machine.
6. Choose the hard disk type as thin provision.
7. Click the finish, and the appliance will be started in the ESXi server.
8. After a successful deployment, try logging into the virtual machine using the provided username and password. The default credentials are as follows:
  1. User name: root
  2. Password: password
9. Open the terminal and verify if MySQL, Mongo, and BDRSuite services have started.
10. Open any web browser (Firefox or Chrome) and browse https://localhost:6061
11. Log in to the BDRSuite Backup Server web console with the provided username and password:
  1. User name: admin
  2. Password: admin
12. Select the time zone setting for this machine.
13. Enter the BDRSuite ID and update the repository.
14. Configure backups from the client machine to the backup server.
