Troubleshooting VHD File Mounting in BDRSuite via Windows Device Manager

Issues Mounting VHD File via Windows Device Manager in BDRSuite

KB ID: 43
Cause:
When attempting to mount a VHD file via Windows Device Manager contained in a Virtual Drive, the device may appear as unreadable, and the disk could become 'Unallocated.' When trying to detach the disk, users might encounter error messages such as "The device is not ready" or "The system cannot find the path specified." This issue typically arises when the BDRSuite Server restarts while the VHD is in a mounted state or if the VHD is manually unmounted from the BDRSuite Server console while still mounted in the Windows Device Manager.
Solution:
To resolve this issue, reboot the BDRSuite Server machine. The problem is not related to the BDRSuite Backup server's backed-up Virtual Drives. Instead, it is caused by Windows Device Manager retaining stale mount handles, preventing successful remounting of the same device. Rebooting the BDRSuite Server machine will clear these stale handles and allow for proper remounting.
