Unable to list the virtual machines. Make sure the WebConsole credential entered

Unable to list the virtual machines. Make sure the WebConsole credential entered

KB ID: 261003

Cause

This error occurs when the oVirt WebConsole credentials entered during host configuration are incorrect. When adding an oVirt host (either manually or through automatic agent push), the application requires:

  1. Host access details – for connecting to the oVirt host.

  2. Web access details – for listing virtual machines and accessing storage data.

If the entered WebConsole username or password is invalid, the system cannot retrieve the list of virtual machines, resulting in this error.

Resolution

  1. Verify and update the credentials:

    • Navigate to Credential Manager in the application.

    • Edit the existing oVirt WebConsole credentials or add a new set of valid credentials.

    • Ensure both host and web access details are correct.

  1. Test VM listing:

    • Reconnect using the updated credentials.

    • Check if the list of virtual machines is displayed.

  1. If the issue persists:

    • Collect the agent-side logs.

    • Contact Vembu Support with the logs for further assistance.

    • Our support team will help resolve the issue so you can proceed with testing without any difficulties.

Example:

IP Address: 192.168.XXX.XX

Username: root

Password: XXXXXXX

Web Access Details:

Web URL: ovirtcentos9.india.vembu.com

Username: admin@ovirt

Password: XXXXXXX
