Error: Host Already Added in Backup Server - Troubleshooting Guide

Cause

This error occurs when attempting to add a host to the backup server with the same target hostname or IP address already present in the user interface (UI). This may also result from orphaned database entries related to the host.

Solution

Option 1: Use Existing Host Entry

  1. Locate the existing host entry in the UI.
  1. Utilize the existing host entry to proceed with your intended actions.

Option 2: Re-add the Host

If you prefer to re-add the host, follow these steps:

  1. Remove Existing Host Entry:

  1. Navigate to the UI and locate the existing host entry.
  1. Remove the entry to clear any conflicting data.
  1. Add the Host Again: After removing the existing entry, reattempt adding the host with the desired hostname or IP address.

Option 3: Check for Orphaned Database Entries

If the issue persists after following the above steps, orphaned database entries may be causing the conflict. Perform the following:

  1. Verify Database Records: Inspect the database to check if entries for the host with the same IP address or hostname exist.

  2. Remove Orphaned Entries: Identify and remove any orphaned records associated with the problematic host.

  3. Retry Adding the Host: Once the database is cleaned, attempt to add the host again.
