KB ID: 115914
Cause:
This KB provides a step-by-step guide for assigning free edition licenses to your BDRSuite backup server.
Solution:
Notes:
  1. For licenses other than VMs, a certain number of free licenses are provided by default. Details about these licenses can be viewed on the Free Edition Policy page.
  1. These free licenses are account-based, not per server, with 10 licenses available per account.

Step 1: Customize Free Edition Licenses

  1. Log in to the BDRSuite Portal: https://portal.vembu.com
  2. Go to the 'License Tab' and select 'Free Edition Policy'.
  3. Customize the allocation of free edition licenses between VMware, Hyper-V, and other virtual machine products.

Step 2: Review Default Licenses

  1. Note that 10 free licenses are available by default for VM-related plugins.
  2. These can be shuffled across VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, oVirt, and Proxmox.

Step 3: Allot Licenses to the Server

  1. Navigate to the 'Allot Licenses' page.
  2. Select the eligible licenses and allot them to the respective server.

Step 4: Confirm License Allotment

  1. Go to the 'Manage Virtual & Physical Entity Licenses' tab.
  2. Verify the assigned licenses under the 'Available Licenses in Server' sub-tab.

Step 5: Run License Check

  1. From the BDRSuite backup server, run the 'License Check' to assign the licenses.
  2. The server should now be assigned with the free licenses.
Conclusion:
By following these steps, you can successfully customize and allocate free edition licenses to your BDRSuite backup server, ensuring they are properly assigned and confirmed.
