Cause:
This knowledge base article provides guidance on renewing your license through the Vembu Portal, whether it's before or after the license expiry date.
Solution:
Renewing Before License Expiry:
1. Login to Vembu Portal: Access the Vembu Portal using your credentials.
2. Customer Renewal:
  1. If you are a customer, view the details of each applied license by following this navigation: Customer Login -> License -> Manage Virtual & Physical Entity Licenses -> License Overview.
  2. Expand the license name to view applied license details for any product (host/backup/application).
  3. Click the "Renewal" icon under the status column to open a popup window with license renewal details, including plugin and backup details.

  1. In the popup window, you can also enable or disable the auto-renewal option for the next license renewal method and save it.

  1. Renewing the license before its expiry will extend the license duration based on the applied time.
Example: If a license set to expire on Nov 11, 2023, is renewed on Nov 11, 2022, it will be valid until Nov 10, 2024.

Limitations:
  1. You cannot renew an already expired license.
  2. Once the 'Auto renewal' option is enabled while assigning a license, the "Renewal" icon will be hidden.
  3. Clicking the "Renewal" icon without having a subscription license will display an error message stating, "not enough license units available."
After License Expiry:
1. View Expired License: Once an applied license expires, it will be immediately shown as 'Grace Period' in the "License -> Manage Virtual & Physical Entity Licenses -> Assign Licenses to Entities" page.
2. License Status Update: After the grace period ends, the status will be updated to "License Expired" on the same page.
3. Apply New License: When a 'license check' is performed from the backup server, the details of the expired license will be added to the "Assign Licenses to Entities" page, indicating the need to apply a new license to continue backup.
4. Customer Renewal: If you are a customer, you can view details of each applied license by following this navigation: License -> Manage Virtual & Physical Entity Licenses -> Assign Licenses to Entities.
5. Reseller Renewal: If you are a reseller, you can view details of each applied license by selecting a customer and navigating to Reseller Login -> Customer -> select any Customer -> License -> Manage Virtual & Physical Entity Licenses -> Assign Licenses to Entities.

6. Apply License: Click the 'Apply License Icon' to open a popup window displaying the server and plugin details to which the license will be applied.
7. Enable Auto-Renewal: In the popup window, you can enable or disable the auto-renewal option for the next license renewal method and save it.

8. Activate Backup/Host: Click 'Apply' to apply the license. Once applied, the backup/host will be activated successfully.
9. Verification: Verify the applied license details on "License -> Manage Virtual & Physical Entity Licenses -> License Overview."
By following these steps, you can renew your license through the Vembu Portal, whether it's before or after the license expiry date, ensuring the uninterrupted operation of your Vembu services.
