Appaware Folder Creation Failed Inside the Guest Machine
In appaware-enabled backups, the BDRSuite Backup Agent attempts to install an appaware-guest-tool into the guest machine to ensure application consistency. By default, this tool uses "C:\Windows" as its installation location. If the specified user account lacks the necessary permissions to create a folder in "C:\Windows" on the guest machine, the backup operation will fail, resulting in the given error.
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that an administrator account is assigned for the appaware process during backup configuration. If not, edit the backup job and provide an administrator account.
2. Verify that the specified user account possesses the required privileges (without elevated permissions) to create a folder inside "C:\Windows" on the guest machine. If necessary, grant the user account the necessary permissions.
3. If the above checks do not resolve the issue, consider providing elevated privileges for the administrator accounts by adjusting the "User Account Control (UAC)" setting on the guest machine:
a. Open "gpedit.msc" from the Run dialog on the guest machine.
b. Navigate to "Computer Configuration" → "Windows Settings" → "Security Settings" → "Local Policies" → "Security Options."
c. Locate the option "User Account Control: Run all administrators in admin approval mode" and disable it.
d. Reboot the guest machine to apply this change.
4. Schedule an appaware backup for the guest machine after making the above adjustments. The appaware folder should now be successfully created at the location "C:\Windows." If the issue persists, please contact our support team for further assistance.
By following these steps, you can address the problem of Appaware Folder Creation Failure inside the guest machine when using Vembu-VMBackup.
