Resolving Disk Image Backup Failure - Error 103097

KB ID: 103097

Error Thrown:

Error 103097: There is a mismatch between the system configuration and the backup configuration. (Refer to this KB: 103097)

Cause

Error 103097 occurs when there is a mismatch between the system volume list of the previously configured host and the current configuration of the agent. This typically happens during agent replacement.

Example:

  • Old host configured with drives: C, D, and E.
  • New host configured with drives: C and D only.

The discrepancy between the two configurations results in this error.

Solution

1. Verify Disk/Volume Availability

Ensure that all disks/volumes originally configured for the backup are present on the agent machine.

2. Update the Backup Configuration

If the configured disks/volumes are not available:
a. Remove the Host from the Backup Job:
  1. Navigate to the Protected Entities page.
  2. Select the affected host.
  3. Use the "Delete" option and choose: Remove the Host/VM from the backup job configuration but retain its backup data in the backup repository.
b. Re-Add the Host with Current Configuration:
  1. Go to Data Sources → Servers and Endpoints.
  2. Use the Quick Host Addition option to add the host with the currently available drives.

3. Schedule and Validate Backup Completion

  1. Configure a new backup job for the updated host.
  2. Monitor the backup schedule and ensure successful completion.
